It’s Monday Again

As with most weeks when Monday comes around again it seems like there has been a flurry of activity over the past week and weekend just gone. What have you been up to I wonder?

Finished Reading

Rivers of London

The review for this book will be posted when I have a day off this week. Just so you know for now however the book is absolutely awesome. Well worth the read and does not take that long to get through it as you will get caught up in the excitement.

This book was started on Audio however I have the paper copy at home and think I will switch over as soon as possible. There is something about audio books that I really cannot get along with. After recently trying to cycle to work I listened to this and it was great to pass the time but I much prefer to read the physical book.

Trax Bike

FINALLY! I got my bike back from my old house and got it a bit of TLC from the guys at Halfords. Not only when I got on it did my seat slide down but my mud guard was crooked and I only realised it wasn’t screwed tight when I got back from a cycle with a world of mud up my back and sides! Bad stuff aside it feels great to be able to cycle again even though I have only been out twice on the bike since its reappearance in my life. Summer this year will be extra fun with this bad boy and there are hopes that once I have finished saving for something else close to my heart there will be another bike on the distant horizon. For now however this will do!

Love that film!

So blog lovelies what has been happening out there? Connect with me!!!!

It’s Monday . . . wait?!

Ok so I am a little late but I have to say *whew* what a busy weekend it has been. I am still playing catch up with my Fat Mum Slim Photo A Day (I will get there by the end of the day hopefully!). So what have I been up to . . .

Rivers of London

This is the first book on my list for the Wicked Valentine’s Read-a-thon and I am absolutely loving it. At the moment I will keep schtum about how I feel as all will be revealed in my review with a small summary in the wrap up post I hope to write for the read-a-thon!

final tesco haul

That ‘small’ collection is just the icing on top of a very large cake I seem to have concocted. My addiction to make up products seems to have taken a vigorous turn for the broke end of things as I just can’t stop picking it up. However myself and Catherine (Vintage Frills) who also seems to have this illustrious bug have made a pact to become thrifty over the next couple of months. I hope it works!

There are a couple of products in the picture above that I am adoring right about now and they are:

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Nordic Berry Lip Care

F&F Eye Liner Ink – Black

There will be reviews for these products some time this week so keep your eyes peeled.

Over the past week I have been using hand cream at every opportunity and my hands really have thanked me for it. Another hit to my wallet was my new hand cream stash however I can slightly justify this stash as I know it is a product that I will use every day for work if nothing else. Being a nurse DAMAGES your hands and if I don’t want them to look old before their time I need to pay attention to them.

Last weeks favourite is . . .

lacura hand cream

With a massive thank you to Catherine for picking this up for me I have stashed this beauty in my locker at work for those moments when dry just will not cut it.

A review will be posted this week.

Composting is still happening however I am having a bit of an overflow problem. With such beautiful british weather (oh the sarcasm!) I really need to get hold of a garden composter to empty out my kitchen waste. Maybe next payday! Or I could try and build my own – hmmm!

Otherwise at home

quinoa cooking

I have been experimenting with new foods and Quinoa (pronounced Kee-noir – thanks Catherine!) is a new favourite. Used as a rice substitute and after my first try quite easy to cook it was mixed with a range of things from various recipes that I adapted.

The picture above was taken by myself, I will brand it soon!

A recipe for the above picture with other pictures will be posted soon.

What have you been up to?

It’s Monday What Are You . . .

A Winter Flame by Milly Johnson

So far so good and almost finished so the review will be up ASAP! Just keep checking back.

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

Coco's Secret by Niamh Greene

I am looking forward to reading both of these books. Have you read either of them?

What are you reading?

jordans 1st pair

After returning from the US with this truly AWESOME pair of Jordan’s they are all I want to wear. Sadly they do not go with everything and I don’t want to wear them out quickly so they do go back in the box every now and then!

If you have Jordan’s – How do you wear yours? If you don’t buy some because they are über comfortable!

Skin Care

Ginger wake up shower gel

This delectable bathroom goody has made me want more than the regular three showers a day (it may seem excessive to some but oh well!). Have you tried it?

Hair Care

These bad boys have not only tamed my locks but also kept away the split ends and made my hair feel sleek. Very happy at the moment!

Listening to . . .

This is the clean version of the tune as I thought it was only appropriate for the blog. However if you would like to watch the original then please do find it on You Tube!
I listen to a variety of music but this song right now has made a regular recurrence on my playlist. What is on yours?

This show is highly addictive and there is something that I cannot identify about Benedict Cumberbatch that is just so HOT!

How is your Monday panning out?

Do let me know :Dmonday love!

It’s Monday . . .

Good Morning with coffee

This week is a big one for me. My last four shifts at my current job before I am on annual leave over the Christmas period. This year I get to spend Christmas not only with my immediate family but with my lovely family that are from the US. Here I come Washington and NYC! Excited doesn’t even cover it!

Apparently it is freezing over there so I will be packing for the likes of the arctic and with some extra room for shopping (of course!). I will be travelling for the first time with my laptop and camera so I am hoping to get some amazing pictures. There are a couple of sights that I aim to see but I wont mention them just in case I don’t get the chance.

One thing that I will most definitely be indulging in is NY coffee. The atmosphere, the people, the weather and the decor out there will be extremely overwhelming – however it will be a very welcome sight.

Back to reality then . . .

Inferno - UK cover

I am going to give this book another 4-5 days before I put it to one side. It has taken up so much of my time so far and it is not that I am not enjoying it I just think I should have finished it by now. The point where your dad is reading the same book and over takes you says something!

Up Next

A Winter Flame by Milly Johnson

Getting into the Christmas spirit is always a little easier when reading some light fiction about this lovely time of year and listening to christmas songs. That is exactly how I plan on getting through this book.

Secret Santa Gift 2012

This book was actually a gift from my Broke & Bookish Secret Santa last year – Sarah from Reader, Writer, Nerd. So what a better time to get stuck in.

Skin Care

Kiehls-Creme-de-Corps-Eric-Haze-editionI am actually in LOVE with this luscious skin cream as once I have applied it in the morning it works right hard through the day until I get home at night. The fact that the air system at work dries out my skin, hair and anything else that is exposed to it. It is a small wonder to find something that keeps my skin moisturised for more than 12 hours. Good job Kiehl’s!

What’s going on with you guys?
