How is your New Year panning out so far? For me the time is just flying by and things are a bit of a fuzz! With plenty to read/listen and my skin causing me a ridiculous amount of problems with the bitter weather that has been dealt out I just want to curl up with copious amounts of caffeine and chill out. Although I have not made any New Years resolutions there are goals that throughout the year I set myself and slowly try to tick off of my list each month. One goal I am working towards at the moment is a work goal so I won’t be writing it on here but I may be a little bit distracted so bare with me.
So what have you been up to over the past week?
It has certainly taken some time but I am LOVING this book. Although the narration is slightly grating it is a really gripping read that you just don’t know where the next chapter will lead you.
Next on the list . . .
I am contemplating finishing the rest of Liane Moriarty’s books whilst I am in the mood.
However I really am thinking about finishing off this . . .
It has been sitting in my Audible library unfinished for quite some time now so I am thinking I might just have to grin and bear it!
What is on your reading list this week?
I managed to pick this up in the sale on the Collectif website – it was an absolute steal and was delivered today. It fits like a dream and I am in LOVE! The fabric is thick and in abundance! Trying to get it on and off was a bit of a chore but worth every minute! I will take pictures of me in it of course and post that soon.
With the cold weather really battering my skin keeping my hands, face and lips smooth is a task as they are the first areas that feel the brunt. Air conditioning is yet another issue to be dealt with whilst at work that causes chapped lips. This wonderful product really does put paid to harsh weather conditions and artificial air circulation. After washing my hands of course a couple of dabs and my lips are kept moist and smooth. The smell of this product is not for everyone but I like it very much.
As part of the gift set I bought myself last week this lovely product is my go to hand cream for work as it makes my hands feel silky smooth after so many washes of my hands. Have you tried it yet?
With himself we settled in the front room and both spent some laptop/work time together. Although we were working on different projects we chatted, chilled and just had a generally nice evening. Then the Baileys came out – delicious as always!
Although Mikado’s are absolutely delicious there is something about pretzel sticks and nutella that just taste absolutely divine. Soft chocolate with a touch of salt is YUMMY!
What have you been up to?
This week has been more productive than most on the reading front – which is surprising considering the weird shift pattern that I had allocated to me. After trying to get into my regular refuge for reading and blogging and finding that it was being refurbished I stuck to reading rather than blogging and clearly it made a difference. I felt slightly more organised than usual despite not actually having a plan. Let’s see what this week brings!
Well, well, well! This book was romantic indeed – but without wanting to spoil it! My review will be up soon
True to Colgan form this book was just wonderful.
Check out my review for this which will go live tomorrow.
This romantic little treat was just delightful.
Check out my review HERE!
Once again you can see that I have been a busy bee and there is still more to come. Tomorrow you will see my review for the Christmas Surprise as mentioned above and there will be a whole host of other tidbits for you to feast your eyes on throughout the week. If there are any requests of posts from my end please do get in touch
My, my what a busy weekend! With the read-a-thon over (sadly :() a new week is upon us and life most certainly does go on. Did you take part in the read-a-thon? If you did, how did you get on? Now onto the books!
Almost half way through and I absolutely LOVE this book.
Quite a tear jerker for Jenny Colgan but I will leave it at that as I do not want to spoil it for you!
Thanks to the Read-a-thon I have managed to finish this book and am patiently waiting to start the next one. The review will be up soon.
As well as the Notting Hill book I will be writing a review about this ASAP.
I am slightly disappointed that I am still waiting for this book – so BIG boo hoo from me!
What are you reading this week?
Yet another Monday has rolled around and my book list is still epically massive! Thanks to Sheila over at Book Journey all of us book lovers/geeks come together on this gloriously tiring day and share what we have read, plan to read etc. So whilst I am finishing my second to last night shift of the week and heading to bed with a nice cuppa and a couple of pages before I drift into the land of nod I thought I would share what I have been up to.
Sent from the lovelies at Harper Perennial US I am loving this book but struggling to get through it as sleep takes over me. Tomorrow I will be able to give it a little more attention!
Review posted HERE. Check it out and even grab a copy if you can.
I just LOVE Liane Moriarty’s writing so I am very much looking forward to this one. Although not looking forward to carrying it as it is a hefty hardback! May have to look into a Kindle version
What have you been reading?
This week my reading schedule has been a little crazy and when I say that I mean from 0 to 60 within nano seconds. Throughout a nasty bout of acute tonsillitis I have found it hard to stay awake, concentrate and generally just function so reading has been quite a challenge. My DVD collection however has most definitely taken a bash as it is a lot easier to just fall asleep with a movie on.
That being said I have made good progress with the book I am currently reading.
When I started this book my initial thoughts were not great but now that I am into it things have most definitely changed.
This is one book that I wanted to love but some things just are not meant to be! Well at least not yet!
This book has been shelved for a while.
This book did not start off well for me – having watched a couple of the films and not read any of the books I think I need to start from the beginning. What a shame!
One of the above two but I am not sure which once may get chosen.
What are you reading?
This wonderful meme is the brainchild of Sheila from Book Journey. Sadly due to work commitments I do not partake as much as I would like. However my toe is dipped in the water enough to be classified as lukewarm!
This week there has not been much reading going on over a Blog A Book however I am aiming to catch up with myself – after the steak dinner and glass of red my friend will imminently provide.
So the nitty-gritty . . .
This book is surprisingly difficult to get into and my feelings towards it at the moment are far from positive. However thinking back to The End of Mr Y – I will stick with it for another 50 pages and see how I go.
All I need to say here is Marianne Kavanagh is a great writer and just all out lovely person. Her book was enjoyable as you can read HERE and she is just so sweet which you can see HERE.

As listed in my books to read in August this is the next book on my list that is one out of my pile of many that have been sitting there for some time. HOWEVER . . . There are a few books that I received the other day that I really do want to get stuck into. Take a look.
Nice little pile there right! Am I not a lucky girl! Well I think so anyway! Relevant thank you’s have been sent out over t’internet via the wonderful Instagram – click on the link you know you want to see what I get up to!
How is your Monday going so far?
Many Monday’s have passed with lots of goings on including reading, writing and just general life. However I have missed out on the weekly meme to update you lovely people on my not so exciting life. So here goes!
This is one book that I have picked up and put down quite a lot. However that is only due to lack of time, the writing style is fun and fancy free which means you can dip in and out without losing track of the story line. The copy that I have looks like a large print book however it is just quite a big page size – which I love.
On Friday I posted a list of books that I hope to finish in August and For Once in My Life is one of the three. Looks like I better get a move on.
Next to Read
Already a fan of Scarlett Thomas from reading The End of Mr Y many years ago this book has been on my list for quite some time and I will finally get around to it after my current read.
This book was a great read. My review has been posted HERE.
Yet another week has gone by and a little bit more reading has been achieved. Have I been listening, well . . .
This book has been to so many places with me that I had to take off the wonderful cover in fear of more damage!
I am trying to pick it up at every interval I get and I am so close to the end now that in a way I don’t want it to end.
It ‘s still early in the day and I am hoping to get to the end of 60 Postcards! Who knows it might be an audio week over here!
So far I like the concept of this book but it really is just weird. I like a good mystery like most but this is a few steps beyond!
Song of the Week
I have listened to this song so many times this week and each time I hit play I just smile.
On a recent walk to Wimbledon this came on and I just bopped along smiling and singing in the sunshine.
Don’t you just love it when that happens!
What are you reading this week?
This meme is hosted by the lovely Sheila over at Book Journey.
Another week has started and the pages keep on turning over here at Blog A Book.
As I am working today not much reading will get done during the day but I hope to catch up a bit when I get home and on the way home!
Although I am still reading this I have made a considerable dent and last night I switched off the TV in a bid to get even closer to the end.
As Sunday goes for TV it is pretty dry on anything new and jam-packed with repeats so it was the perfect opportunity to sit by open window with the sun streaming in and read away the evening.
This is one that has been on my To Be Reviewed pile for a while and I just have never got to it.
So, when the opportunity to listen to it on Audible came up why not! I will let you know how I get on!
