Blogmas Day 15 – can you believe it?! December is one of those months that always flies by for me. With all the festivities under way and planning for the actual day this month is one that is maximum stress (on the wallet also!) coupled with enjoyment – the line is fine my friends!
How are you getting on with your December so far?
Still listening and I have to say the book has taken a turn for the better. To start with I was slightly irritated but it was my wrapping companion the other night and I really am enjoying the story despite it being über girly – but that is chick lit from Kinsella for you.
This week is the works Christmas party and there are so many options whirring around in my head. Do I wear a skirt and top, dress, trousers? First choice at the moment is skirt and top as there are a few options to choose from. Check out some items that are on the list.
Queens Shell Top – £35 – Coast
Santy Knit Top – £65 – Coast
Cannizaro Skirt – £75 – Coast
Magna Trousers – £75 – Coast
All of the items are truly amazing but I just cannot choose! HELP!
As the cold weather sets in my skin seems to have an attack of the crazies and go back to the times of when I was an infant. It is never fun being lathered in cream in the bath but I am starting to appreciate the cool sensation as an adult. Aqueous cream seems to be the only thing that helps and I got a great deal at Superdrug so bought two big tubs. At £2.99 per tub and buy one get one half price I figured it was silly not to buy two considering the amount I use daily.
Date night this week was at home this week watching Lord of the Rings – I am eager to watch the films and finish them with thought of understanding a bit more of the Hobbit film number 2. The first Hobbit film was wonderful however I felt a little bit out of the LOTR’s loop! Despite watching them all a couple of times I have never really paid attention. Time to concentrate!
After sleeping with the heating off for the past couple of months there seems to be a build up of mildew by my window so after scrubbing like crazy and warming the place up the room was moved around the sheets changed. In love with these sheets right now – lights went up too but pictures will be up on Instagram this week.
What have you been up to this week?
It’s Blogmas Day 8 people and I am on the slow road to Christmas celebrations. This is my favourite time of year and I fully intend to enjoy it to the max. The decorations are going up and treats are almost ready for the oven (well kind of!). How are you preparing for the festive season and what are you reading?
Thanks to Audible this is what I am currently listening to.
Sophie Kinsella has been a favourite of mine for many years and if I am honest got me into reading a lot more with her fabulous shopaholic series. This one however so far has not impressed me – I’m unsure whether it is because I am listening to it and don’t really like the narrators whiny voice.
We shall see!
After checking out the new collection for Coast this is one of my favourite pieces of the collection. You may have guessed as this has not only been on my Instagram but also on my Facebook and made it to the press day post.
This has been my skin saviour this week, with all the cold weather I have been taking my daily cleansing routine a lot more seriously. After the first use my face felt fresh and dewy. Have you used this?
Our picture from date night at Winter Wonderland – it was such an awesome night and so romantic and snuggly.
Cute right?! I just love this bed-spread and of course I am on the nice side!
What have you been up to this week?
It’s Monday peeps! How was your weekend?
From friends birthday celebrations to maximum relaxation my weekend was great.
Let’s get on with it!
These beauties have been on my list for quite some time. If you fancy a pair get them HERE.
On the odd day that I had off and managed to get around Central I chose to wrap up warm but take my sunnies as there were some stray rays about. Contact lenses at the ready and I was away!
This product is one of the staples in my collection of cosmetics and cleansers. It is so gentle on the skin and leaves no dryness post application. It has had a little more air time than usual as I have been donning the darker shades of lipstick and need to remove them so I don’t end up with unsightly staining. You can grab a bottle HERE.
Speaking of the darker shades this beauty is from the NARS Audacious Lip Collection, it was also my first step onto the NARS bandwagon that I am finding increasingly difficult to get off. Their colours are just so gorgeous!
Not as funny as the first movie – but that is only my opinion. Still hilarious however!
After watching the first episode on Sky 1 I am absolutely hooked and find myself linking up to the states just to get my hit every week. Most definitely worth the watch especially if you like superheros! Geeking out over here and having far to many fangirl moments – well more than I would like to admit anyway
Yet another triumph from Sylvia Day – check out my review HERE
A bit of a slow starter – that is all I can say for now.
Look out for the review on Wednesday 3rd December.
Ben Aaronovitch’s writing style is truly stellar and the series of books starting with Rivers of London are spectacular.
I was one happy reader when this one was sent through. Check out his books either on Amazon or The Folly.
Over the next couple of weeks I will be busy with events and getting ready for Christmas of course. This year I plan to be a lot more organised than last but who knows what will happen. My book selection might also change (only slightly) to those more on the academic side as I am studying for something important.
What have you been up to this week?
This week has been more productive than most on the reading front – which is surprising considering the weird shift pattern that I had allocated to me. After trying to get into my regular refuge for reading and blogging and finding that it was being refurbished I stuck to reading rather than blogging and clearly it made a difference. I felt slightly more organised than usual despite not actually having a plan. Let’s see what this week brings!
Well, well, well! This book was romantic indeed – but without wanting to spoil it! My review will be up soon
True to Colgan form this book was just wonderful.
Check out my review for this which will go live tomorrow.
This romantic little treat was just delightful.
Check out my review HERE!
Once again you can see that I have been a busy bee and there is still more to come. Tomorrow you will see my review for the Christmas Surprise as mentioned above and there will be a whole host of other tidbits for you to feast your eyes on throughout the week. If there are any requests of posts from my end please do get in touch
With yet another weekend gone by too soon another week has begun. More books and things to do as always with to do lists forever growing. Shops have started to stock for Christmas and the shopping madness has begun. With another packed work week and the clocks gone back I have squeezed in quite a bit of reading and hope this week will bring me the same opportunity. You may notice that the majority of the books that I am reading have an extremely festive theme, I am not really one for scary books so Halloweeny books are out of the equation and straight for the happy festive reads it is! But fear not fair readers I have yet to break out Elf or other Christmassy films (Give it a week!).
The second book in the Notting Hill series from Ali McNamara and I am loving it.
If you have read this you may notice that there are a lot of film references – I have made a list (that is forever growing!) and making my way slowly through it! Awesome reason to watch films!
Although there was a slow start this book was a good read.
Review going live on 2nd Nov so check back here.
This book was as always with Jenny Colgan books truly fantastic.
Review will be posted ASAP.

So as you can see it has been a busy week over here and more plans for an even busier one this week. On the work side of things I managed to finished the monthly newsletter and have already started planning for the next one. Like I said I have a list of films that I am working my way through so I will let you know how that goes. There will be some other interesting bits happening over here so stay tuned.
Tomorrow there will be a post with some pics from a lovely Autumn Drive.
Keep those peepers peeled!
Lots of Festive Love
My, my what a busy weekend! With the read-a-thon over (sadly :() a new week is upon us and life most certainly does go on. Did you take part in the read-a-thon? If you did, how did you get on? Now onto the books!
Almost half way through and I absolutely LOVE this book.
Quite a tear jerker for Jenny Colgan but I will leave it at that as I do not want to spoil it for you!
Thanks to the Read-a-thon I have managed to finish this book and am patiently waiting to start the next one. The review will be up soon.
As well as the Notting Hill book I will be writing a review about this ASAP.
I am slightly disappointed that I am still waiting for this book – so BIG boo hoo from me!
What are you reading this week?
After a while away from Monday posting here I am again! It’s not that I haven’t been reading but working weekends and not having anything scheduled leaves holes in the blog! Better organisation is much-needed.
Keep checking back for the review – I will link it up to this post and onto Goodreads
I feel like I have reached a bit of a stalemate between myself and my pile of books.
At the moment the books that I am considering for reading are
This book was a recommendation by a member of staff in my favourite Foyles store due to my search for a book like The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas. I wonder will it live up to the wonderful recommendation.
With a yearning to delve into the classics I picked up a copy of this at my local second-hand bookshop – the place is a cavern for EVERYTHING new and old and I generally come out with a handful of books I do not need but so desperately want.
My copy of this has a different cover but I couldn’t find a picture so will take one later.
This was sent to me last year from what I can remember and I now have three from what I can only call a series.
I am yet to read any of Ali McNamara’s books but if they are anything like my usual type of chick lit read I am sure I will enjoy it.
This one in particular I have actually started so I just need to get into it and speed through the series so I can catch up to the new release of From Notting Hill with Four Weddings Actually as that is patiently waiting in line and is released very soon.
If you were me, which would you pick?
Or would you be ambitious and go for all three as they are all completely different types of read.
This could be a very interesting week!
Once again as I finish night shifts and watch all of the Monday morning commuters make their way to work whilst wishing it was Friday afternoon once again I bring you my bookish moments of the previous week.
Still struggling but will get there eventually.
I cannot wait to get started with this one. The perfect winter warmer I hope!
Looking Forward to
I have read all of Sophie Kinsella’s previous books including her stand alone books.
I am über excited about this one.
What are you reading?
Yet another Monday has rolled around and my book list is still epically massive! Thanks to Sheila over at Book Journey all of us book lovers/geeks come together on this gloriously tiring day and share what we have read, plan to read etc. So whilst I am finishing my second to last night shift of the week and heading to bed with a nice cuppa and a couple of pages before I drift into the land of nod I thought I would share what I have been up to.
Sent from the lovelies at Harper Perennial US I am loving this book but struggling to get through it as sleep takes over me. Tomorrow I will be able to give it a little more attention!
Review posted HERE. Check it out and even grab a copy if you can.
I just LOVE Liane Moriarty’s writing so I am very much looking forward to this one. Although not looking forward to carrying it as it is a hefty hardback! May have to look into a Kindle version
