#IMWAYR

Monday, Blogging, It's Monday What Are You Reading?, IMWAYR, Blog A Book Etc, Fay

Last week I returned from Amsterdam on Monday but was too late to put up my Monday post due to ridiculous delays with British Airways. Surprisingly the flight and customer services was awful but thankfully we are home safely.

Beauty

Lime Tree Blossom Shower Scrub, Shower, Scrub, Lime Tree Blossom, Douche, Blog A Book Etc, Beauty, Skin Care, Fay

€2.50 – 150ml
Last time I went to Amsterdam I remember this product and lucky for me the HEMA shop were still selling it. It smells amazing and although it is over the 100ml mark and I am unable to take it back home it is just the right price to use whilst there and not feel bad leaving it behind.

Hair Care, Hair, Serum, Beauty, Hema, Blog A Book Etc, Fay

€4.50 – 30ml

Perfect sized bottle of serum which I can say from experience works on Afro Caribbean hair very well. Leaving my locks feeling well nourished and smelling fresh – also it seems to tame the frizz. Of course I bought it home with me!

Life

Coffee, Barneys, Amsterdam , Caffeine, Blog A Book Etc, Fay

Just one of the many delicious coffees we had whilst in Amsterdam – maybe it is because they use creamer instead of milk. Yummy!

Spongebob, Spongebob's Squarepants, Cartoons, Kids, TV, Amsterdam, Street Art, Art, Blog A Book Etc, Fay

Most nights we would take a stroll around the town and on our first night we came across Spongebob watching us.

Ideal Home Show 2014

ideal home outside

With great thanks to the lovely press people who organise the Ideal Home Show myself and Catherine were given press passes to this wonderful event. There were many great sights and despite missing the opening day the show remained in full swing right until the last-minute of the day and I am sure until the closing day.

Once we crossed the threshold we headed to the press office to collect our passes and get going.

press pass mistakes

My question really was ‘how many times can you get BLOG A BOOK ETC wrong?! Not exactly the picture of prepared for someone who you know is showing up. The kicker was that Catherine’s who they claimed was my +1 was on the side waiting neatly written out and they ‘couldn’t find it’. After this debacle we giggled for a while after this.

Now the next set of pictures will be favourites picked from the many traders that were showing the day I attended. There were so many traders and it was almost impossible (for my memory card anyway!) to take pictures of everything!

Good right?!

Floral Headpieces

These great headpieces I can imagine being worn at many festivals – how cute are they!

Bits & Bobs

From cute to tasty . . .

Did anyone go to the show and if so I would love to hear what you thought about it – if there were any favourites at all?

Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Bilberry

bilberry radiance spray

Body Shop – Rainforest Radiance – Detangling Spray – £6.50/100ml
Leave-in conditioner to soften, add shine and protect vibrancy of colour-treated hair.

The packaging leaves little to be desired but it does the job and stores well on my shelf. The cap doesn’t come lose which is a bonus and the bottle is not squishy therefore keeps its shape well when put with other products.

Over the past couple of days I have been spritzing my hair with this before leaving for work. The smell is just delicious and a little edible (DO NOT CHEW YOUR HAIR OR SPRAY THIS PRODUCT IN YOUR MOUTH).

The main problem I have with my hair is dryness – half way through the day my hair suffers from dry ends and frizziness. This states that it will soften and add shine however by the end of the day it just seems to leave my hair dry and brittle. I am going to give it another go and take some in a little bottle to work to give myself a refresher spritz.

So far I am not impressed but I will persevere.

Reading

A Winter Flame by Milly Johnson

So far so good and almost finished so the review will be up ASAP! Just keep checking back.

Reading Next

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

Coco's Secret by Niamh Greene

I am looking forward to reading both of these books. Have you read either of them?

What are you reading?

Wearing

jordans 1st pair

After returning from the US with this truly AWESOME pair of Jordan’s they are all I want to wear. Sadly they do not go with everything and I don’t want to wear them out quickly so they do go back in the box every now and then!

If you have Jordan’s – How do you wear yours? If you don’t buy some because they are über comfortable!

Skin Care

Ginger wake up shower gel

This delectable bathroom goody has made me want more than the regular three showers a day (it may seem excessive to some but oh well!). Have you tried it?

Hair Care

reming2

These bad boys have not only tamed my locks but also kept away the split ends and made my hair feel sleek. Very happy at the moment!

Listening to . . .

This is the clean version of the tune as I thought it was only appropriate for the blog. However if you would like to watch the original then please do find it on You Tube!
I listen to a variety of music but this song right now has made a regular recurrence on my playlist. What is on yours?

Watching

sherlock

This show is highly addictive and there is something that I cannot identify about Benedict Cumberbatch that is just so HOT!

How is your Monday panning out?

Do let me know :Dmonday love!

Night Haul

What should have been my introduction into the world of Vlogging actually turned out to be a night-time beauty trek around the local Tesco with Catherine (Vintage Frills). Laughs were had, pictures were taken and products were bought. Maybe a little too many products made their way through the checkout however the deals more than made up for it!

TescoHaul

Not my ideal picture as the background is not clean cut but I did the best with what I had at the time.

Remington Ceramic Straight Straighteners – £20 – Tesco

My GHD’s seemed to have given up the ghost a while back and just damage my hair. As sad as I am to say goodbye I have read good things about Remington straighteners so I thought I would give these a whirl.

mewithsoap

It was a tough decision as both of them smelt absolutely amazing and from a selection as good as this . . .

Shower Gel Rainbow

It looks like the stores version of a Shower Gel rainbow!

Ginger wake up shower gel

Treacle Moon One Ginger Morning – £2.99 – Tesco

This choice will most definitely be making a prominent appearance during my morning wake up call. Hopefully it will be ok for sensitive skin?!

Anatomicals Bath Stuff

Anatomicals Relaxing Bath Kit – £2.50 – Tesco

Not only have I been longing to get my hands on some of Anatomicals scrummy products for a while the price was hard to pass on.

Anatomicals Hands

Anatomicals Hand Care Kit – £3.00 – Tesco

kissmeanatomical

Anatomicals A Smacker in A Cracker – 75p – Tesco

Another great deal and set of lush products.

Batiste Spray Cherry

Batiste Cherry Dry Shampoo – £2.99 – Tesco

Not the biggest can of this stuff but as big as I could get my hands on from Tesco and the smell is just delicious.

Barry M

Barry M Matte Nail Paint – £3.99 each – Buy 2 Get 1 Free – Tesco

Another deal, another brand but nevertheless something that I have been looking at for a while. Patience most definitely is a virtue in this case!

1COAT2COAT

1st Coat: O.P.I. Natural Base Coat

2nd Coat: Barry M Matte Nail Paint in Mocha

3rd Coat: Another coat of Barry M and I am done!

I wonder how long it will last?!

Not a bad haul for a spur of the moment shopping trip with your best mate in the dead of night. Thank heavens for 24 Hour stores. Out of the three things I needed to purchase, those being a calculator, quad coloured pens and coffee capsules I got two and the coffee was sadly left behind. Looks like I will be seeing Tesco again very soon.

How did you like the haul and what have you grabbed whilst the sales are on?

It’s all Go, Go, Go!

After sleeping off the last of my night shift hangover yesterday, this morning I woke up refreshed and ready to go. There are far too many opportunities on the horizon to just sit/lie and let pass by. As many already know I am heading for warmer climates at the end of september and ideally would like to be a little lighter for my travels.

Read

The River of No Return by Bee Ridgway

Now the four activities listed above should not take up a colossal amount of energy so I expect today will run on the slightly sedate side of things. Ideally I would love to finish the book I am reading whilst enjoying the spectacular weather that the UK is showing off with at the moment.

What are your plans for today? Anything taxing?!

It’s Monday What Are You Reading? . . . Etc!

Another Monday has crept up on us however this Monday is known to most as a beloved Bank Holiday or lets just say an extra day off work. Not for myself however! Back to work I go without complaint however (well only a little!) as I have had a lovely relaxing weekend off work which is rare. Hitting the gym a couple of times this week has definitely made me feel slightly better even though I should have gone yesterday with or without company! With the motivation set as ‘going to a hot country (and wearing as little clothes as respectable!) things really do need to start taking shape. Not being a fan of diets I am going for the everything in moderation way of life – this may prove difficult!

Less of this . . .

Lanson UK

More of this . . .

Evian 1Litre

I know, I know – it is no fun but hey! No pain, no gain! Not exactly that the reduction in such treats is painful (only slightly) but i’m sure it will help!

BOOKS

Currently Reading

Mr Penumbras 24 hour bookstore

There have been some not so great reviews for this book however I am in loving it so far. There is something about the mystery of the book and without that predictability the excitement grows. This book has me reminiscing about The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas. Review will be written once finished!

Read

Sophie Kinsella Wedding Night

This book was received with this exact cover in a Hardback edition. When the sleeve was removed I found a white hardback book which I think really fit the whole wedding title. As always with Kinsella from start to finish I loved this book . Even though slightly predictable it was that good kind. Review will be up soon.

On The Back Burner . . .

The Lost are of keeping secrets by Eva Rice

This book is on my nightstand at the moment – I will be the first to admit that my reading of this book was flippant from the start and at best sporadic and not much has changed. I am sure that over the next couple of weeks I will dip in and out of this book however I cannot see me sticking with it over time. Hopefully I will get to the end. This is part of the book list on The Vintage Book Group’s reading list – check it out and if you like what you see join in.

the mystery of mercy close by marian keyes

This book has been relegated to the bathroom – on the toilet or in the bath and this book is what surfaces. Not that I spend that long on the toilet but it is a good refresher read. The end will come eventually!

To Read ASAP

a-game-of-thrones

Caught up in the hype I picked this up and cannot wait to read it.

beautifulcreaturesbk

Ashamedly I will admit I bought this partly because I wanted to read the book before I saw the film and that is still a strong possibility however the driving force behind the first book purchase made in a long while is the beauty of the cover. Now the digital images doesn’t quite get the beauty across so pop to the shops and see for yourself!

Moving on . . .

HAIR

Curly Comeback

My curls are slowly making a comeback and the front of my hair is starting to actually curl which puts a big smile on my face. There is still a long way to go but progress has been made. My hair is softer than ever and conditioning regularly really does make a difference. All I need now is the confidence to rock out with my bushy head!

For now I will leave you with this tune! Hair related of course!

May Wishlist

Books

May Books Wishlist1. Haruki Murakami – 1Q84 – Book Three

2. Haruki Murakami – 1Q84 – Book One & Two

3. F Scott Fitzgerald – The Beautiful & The Damned

4. Sophie Kinsella – Wedding Night

5. Robin Sloan – Mr Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore

All of the above books have been on my want list for a while. Number one and two intrigue me especially as I have never read anything by Murakami and that I am taking part in a challenge to read one of his books. It may be a bit ambitious reading those two books as first reads for Murakami however why not just get them out-of-the-way!  These books have either made it to my Goodreads list or will make a stealth like entrance very shortly!

Hair Care

May Hair Care Wish List

1. RedKen – Curvaceous Ringlet – £16.35

2. RedKen – Curvaceous Conditioner – Leave In/Rinse Out – £11.99

3. Moroccan Oil – Hair Treatment – £30.45/100ml – Out of Stock :(

4. Organic Virgin Coconut Solid Oil – £9.99 + £1.49 postage

The one thing out of the four lovelies above that I am most looking forward to getting my mitts on is the Coconut Oil as it is multi use and smells soooooo good! Despite the lack of fancy packaging this stuff is immense – this is a different brand than I have previously used so I am hoping it is just as good or better!

Make Up, Nails & Tools

May Wish List Make Up

1. MAC – Lipstick – Yash – £14.00

5. Chanel – La Vernis – Holiday #617 – £18.00

6. MAC – Mineralize Rich Lipstick – Luxe Naturale – £20.00

Just look at that list – how could I pick a favourite! It was narrowed down massively as it is. Enough said!

Skin Care

May Wish List Skin Care

1. Dr Lipp – Original Nipple Balm for Lips – £11.50/15ml

2. Green People – 24 Hour Vita Min Fix – £14.95/50ml

5. MAC – Gently Off Eye and Lip Make Up Remover – £14.00 – SOLD OUT :( another lust fest for me!

This list makes me sad – not only because two of the products I have recently run out of but one of them has been out of stock for well over two weeks – what is the deal with that?! All of these beauties I want but only some I can have! HELP!

______________________

Wowza – What a round-up. I am sure that a couple of the lovely products displayed above will make it into the bought pile this month but I have to admit buying all of them would leave me around £1 short of a monthly bankrupt figure. One thing that I will be hitting hard this month and it is cheap and cheerful is:

Evian 1Litre

Virgin Active

After a few not too heavy but worth it gym sessions I always tend to feel like I am back on the wagon and ready to go hard – so here is hoping that I get my rhythm and tone back. Go on send me love and support you know you want to!

It’s Monday What Are You Reading? Etc . . .

its monday already

Last week although I was on annual leave from work was quite busy and seemed to just fly by. At the moment time seems to just be passing at light speed. There are some days that I will not be complaining about this, however when I am on annual leave it would be nice if things moved a little slower. The week just gone has seen a couple of books pass through my letterbox, not as many pages as I would have liked read and the pile on my night stand getting substantially larger.

So on we go . . .

Books

New Books Monday 22:04:13

1. Mr Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

2. The GI Bride by Iris Jones Simantel

3. Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella

4. A Cottage by the Sea by Carole Matthews

5. The Heart Broke In by James Meek

6. Things That Are by Amy Leach

7. Beatrice and Virgil by Yann Martel

Books 1, 2, 3 and 6 came through this week and the others have been on my pile for about two weeks now. Beatrice and Virgil was recommended to me by a colleague and if I am honest I cannot wait to read it as it sounds like such a delightful story. On Saturday I received a package that was clearly something other than a letter however when I opened it I found this -

Mr Penumbra wrapped up

When I originally saw this wrapping I actually screamed a little and did a little dance of pure excitement. It has finally arrived – much to my disappointment however I have yet to finish two more books before I dig into this one . My question now is do I push the other books to the side or crack on and get through them – what a quandary!

My excitement was shared slightly with the arrival of Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella. My little dance for this book in particular is purely because I love to read anything by Kinsella and have done from a younger age.

Hair

Keratin Plus Hair Treatment

This lovely little bottle (250ml) kept the frizz away whilst I went out to play. My hair was washed and conditioned and then whilst damp this product was applied. After application my hair was blow dried and straightened and this as promised kept the frizz away from my ends and baby hairs at the front of my head. Overall I have to say I was very impressed by this as it has been a mean feat to find something that really combats my frizz. The only downside would be the feel of my hair after straightening, on the looks side of things it was sleek and straight however when touched it felt chalky and just a bit meh!

GHD Heat Spray

Whilst preparing for a night out with a couple of girlies I managed to borrow this from my friends stash of hair goodies. It managed to create a sleek shiny look and felt smooth to touch which was amazing. Teamed with the Keratin 3 Day Smooth it worked incredibly well to combat my frizz and keep my hair shiny and light. Needless to say I will be buying this (surprisingly small) bottle of goodness very soon.

Face

Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash £17.00

This face wash has literally gone everywhere with me this week – from friends houses to mine and various bathrooms. It gets rid of most make up without leaving residue on your face and leaves your face actually feeling squeaky clean. Worth the small price of £17.00 as a little really does go a long way and works up into quite a lather. The scent is fresh and light and a delight to have on the face – worth a try.

Clothes

Label Lab Smudge Print Swing Top £36.00

Label Lab – Smudge Print Swing Top – £36.00 (Was £45.00)

Label Lab are celebrating their 3rd Birthday and as a treat to their customers offering 20% off and a free goody bag to those that purchase something from the brand. This lovely top is perfect for a warm night out with a vest for an undershirt (very see through!) and a pair of jeans as follows.

A Wear Light Wash Boyfriend Roll Up Jean

A Wear – Light Wash Boyfriend Roll Up Jeans – £35.00

This label is new to House of Fraser however has been around in Ireland for a number of years. Previously known as Gay Wear (according to the sales assistant!) this affordable line of clothing is one to be watched. There were a couple of things that took my fancy and it was nice to see clothes that were available in not only a size 6-10. The jeans are comfortable, can be worn with a number of different things and look hot with heels!

KG Kurt Geiger Admire £79

KG for Kurt Geiger – Admire – £79 (Was £130)

Not quite Louboutin but comfortable, affordable and worth a little splurge. Classically nude and able to wear with almost any outfit these lovelies made their debut on Friday night teamed with the outfit above. I have to be honest and say that if you plan on wearing them all night and dancing wear them once or twice before to let your feet acclimatize and then you won’t end up bare foot on the street praising street patrons for giving out free flip-flops! (It happened!) Since then I have managed to wear them to the shops and around and can say they are well and truly broken in.

So what have you been up to over the past week? Anything fun?
The sun is out in the UK now however we are still getting short spells of cold!

Before I go I would like to say that this weekend I celebrated with my lovely god-daughter, her parents and a lovely group of people as it was her 2nd Birthday she is growing to be such a lovely young lady and I love her more every minute. Happy Birthday Lila :D

Happy 2nd Birthday Lila
