There is nothing better than snuggling up under a nice cosy blanket with a cup of tea and a good book. Autumn is THE season where I start to break out the woollies and blankets and start to think about nights in rather than nights out. Usually when I am on a day off or annual leave I try to get as much packed into my time off as possible. That means wrapping up with comfy knits or chunky scarves, however right about now I am completely shattered.
Over the next couple of weeks I will most definitely be making the most of the chilly evenings and settling down to get some much needed reading done. Now, I am terrible for letting my reading pile stack up and picking the newest at the time to read. Once again the pile has started to get a little out of hand and I am at the point where I really should think of starting to tackle it.
For once I actually have an excuse other than laziness as to why my stack is mounting – I have recently started studying again and have a LOT of reading to do for the course. Unlike studying before I qualified where it was either study or placement this is studying whilst working – in essence my workload has grown by 1/2. Now we are in the second week I am starting to get my head around the schedule but the reading is pretty intense.
My go to activity for relaxing from everything including class and reading at the moment is baking. With two bakes down I am hooked once again to the delight of creating for others. So far I have made a double layered chocolate cake alongside some very rich Peanut Butter and Chocolate slices.I am trying to put together my first baking video which was an odd one for me. Keep your eyes peeled as I will put it in a post hopefully later this week and on You Tube. Before I move on, for those of you that actually read this blog I must apologize for being away for the week as things have got a little out of hand behind the scenes and despite scheduling quite a few posts they are not for this month! Stay with me now peeps!!!
BECOMING A HOMEBODY INSTEAD OF A HERMIT
Summer time seems to be the busiest time of year for most. As we head into the colder months it is time to slow your roll and go with the flow. With the long winter nights and cold dark mornings it is highly unlikely that unless you are one of those that is unusually chipper EVERY morning (me on most mornings!!!) then you will want to keep hitting that snooze button and roll back into a gentle slumber.
Something as simple as changing the temperature of your light bulb can make a big difference. Personally we use low level, energy efficient bulbs that not only take a while to actually reach full brightness but are a softer, warmer tone. With low temperature bulbs the light is much whiter yet gives off a cooler feel to the room – think of it as artificial daylight. With the cooler bulbs you will feel less like cozying down and more like getting up and active.
Being surrounded by home comforts is always a plus, especially when they are delicious. Please do not mistake me here by thinking I mean it is time to hole up at home and eat everything in sight! Treating yourself every now and then really can just be good for the soul. Just remember it doesn’t have to be food that is a comfort – I love to sit and binge watch TV shows sometimes as it really does let my mind relax. You may remember my post about my favourite TV shows that I have been waiting to return, if not check it out HERE.
